At the Center for Resilience and Change, I bring an eclectic approach to my practice, combining a Bachelor’s Degree in Cognitive and Developmental Psychology and a Master's degree in Counseling. I am also a Master trained Splankna Practitioner, a Certified Life and Marriage Coach, and the developer of #HER Circles, supportive groups for women working collectively through trauma and abuse.
My life experiences and journey of healing enrich and inform my practice as well. I am married and a specialty mom of three young adult children. For seven years, I ran an international non-profit that I founded, addressing the needs of orphans with special needs. For self-care, I enjoy writing, running, hiking, participating in high-intensity workouts, hosting game nights with my family, cooking, and tending to the garden to produce beauty and food.
I look forward to meeting you,
Shannon Neel, MA, CSP, CLC
The Center for Resilience and Change
Do you know the most common outcome after trauma and grief? Most people would answer anxiety, shutdown, depression, or dysfunction. Surprise! The number one outcome resulting from trauma or grief is resilience. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties.
I specialize in Splankna Therapy, a results-driven, Cognitive-Somatic energy method that works to release stored emotion and trauma while tending to body, soul, and spirit. You can find the root issue of why you feel stuck, assess your circumstances, and move forward.
For engaged couples, I am a certified facilitator of SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts). More couples than ever before are seeking out pre-marriage or even pre-engagement coaching. Taking the time to understand how your personalities interact and identifying potential issues before you say 'I Do' is associated with higher levels of marital satisfaction and lower levels of destructive conflict.
#HER Circles were developed to work effectively with women through the trauma-healing process. Circles create a safe community for support while participants work through a trauma recovery workbook and engage in processes and exercises that move each woman forward.
#HER Circles meet for fourteen weeks, unlocking resilience and bringing change.
Three-night Re.Group Retreats provide Christian women the opportunity to regroup through spiritual practices and thoughtful examination while surrounded by extravagant support and beauty.
If you are a Christian woman having trouble resetting because of your current circumstances, past experiences, trauma, or struggles, let us tend to those with you as you begin to repair.
Retreat leader teams combine their diverse skills, training, and expertise to lead retreats and events that care for your body, soul, and spirit. I hope to offer retreats again in the Fall of 2026.
THERE ARE NO RETREATS PLANNED FOR 2025
I have experience teaching small groups, retreats, and workshops. Areas of interest include Attachment, Secure Relating, The Neurobiology of Forgiveness, Relational Neuroscience, and Spiritual Formation. Depending on your group's needs, I am open to working with you alongside your programming.
Please be advised that I offer my services as a registered psychotherapist, not a licensed mental health professional. The approaches I offer are not intended to be a substitute for medical diagnosis, and they do not replace the services of a licensed physician or licensed psychotherapist.
